Bleeker In Development With TVO !

For Immediate ReleaseToronto- September 12, 2008

Radical Sheep Productions, leading producer of children's and family programming, is pleased to announce a deal with TVO to develop a new animated comedic series for kids, based on Bleeker: The Rechargeable Dog, the hilarious online comic strip by Jonathan Mahood about a hapless and loveable robotic toy dog named Bleeker and his owner Skip.
Picking up on the nuances of the online strip, Bleeker will explore the sibling-like relationship between the robotic toy dog Bleeker and his hyperactive owner, 10-year old Skip. As they navigate their friendship, co-dependence and the limitations of Bleeker's hardware, they find out what it means to belong and to be human... or at least Bleeker does.
"We're very excited about developing Bleeker for TVO. Bleeker is a funny, touching, truly unique character and we can't wait to launch him into stardom," says John Leitch, President of Radical Sheep Productions. "We feel the series will appeal to a broad range of kids. It's funny, smart and surprisingly poignant."
Pat Ellingson, Creative Head of Children's Media, Content and Programming for TVO says of Bleeker. "What we love about Bleeker is that it's a show that makes you laugh but has a lot of heart. Amongst all the comedy and the antics, Bleeker teaches us life lessons about the importance of friendship, community and family. It's both educational and fun. We think it's a great fit for TVO."
Radical Sheep is looking to produce 26 x 11-minute episodes of Bleeker: the Rechargeable Dog for the 6-12 audience, with broad appeal to both girls and boys.
Bleeker: The Rechargeable Dog is currently syndicated online by GoComics.com and can be found at http://www.gocomics.com/bleeker/
